Today my kids and I are trying to be creative. My daughter is drawing a bubble, trying to get it just right, in her art journal. She wants it to look realistic, which isn’t easy to capture on paper, and practice using the watercolor pencils too. My son is busy playing a new game that he made up with the neighbor kids. They are hashing out the rules so that it will be fair for the different ages and abilities to play together. I am working on some art journaling lessons for the kids in the upcoming homeschool year. So much creativity happening around our home today.
I’m also excited because my first guest post ever is up over at Proverbial Homemaker, where I discuss transitioning from public school to homeschooling using a bit of creativity. Here is the link: Creatively Transitioning from Public School to Homeschool. There are so many other wonderful bloggers sharing their tips, how-to’s and resources from August 1st to August 31st that it is worth visiting for updates and new guest bloggers. There are some great giveaways too (FIVE BUNDLES) so be sure to visit Homeschool Successfully: Perfection Not Required! – Proverbial Homemaker for your chance to win.
Since the weekend is starting I am also looking forward to a little tea party time too. Just a little gathering of family and a few friends for bite size savories, scones with clotted cream and/or lemon curd, and a few tiny blackberry tarts. Before the hustle and bustle of back to school begins for everyone we are going to spend a some time to quietly connect over steaming cups of tea and tasty treats. It will be a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
What creative, exciting or quiet moments are you planning for this weekend? Any back-to-school/homeschool gatherings? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.
